Roger McGilligan (1835-1916) is my Great-great-grandfather. His occupation in the 1901 census and on his death certificate was listed as a farmer. The 1901 census records his wife, Jane, and two children living at home. John McGilligan, their first son, is my Great-grandfather. Roger died May 4, 1916 at Tirhugh, Magherafelt, County Londonderry. He was buried on May 6, 1916 at Killelagh Parish Church, Swatragh, County Londonderry.
James Magee is my Great-great-grandfather. He was married to Margaret McKee. James and Margaret lived and worked in Lisburn, County Antrim. His occupation in the 1901 census and on his death certificate was listed as a bleacher. The 1901 census records 5 children ranging from 13 to 33 living at home. Agnes Stewart Magee, their third daughter, is my Great-grandmother. James died December 2, 1905 at his home on Seymour Street in Lisburn.
On February 4th, 1907, Samuel Elder’s body was found in the River Roe at “Natty’s Hole” near Ballyclose, Limavady. His death record lists Samuel as a widower and labourer of 75 years. Cause of death was drowning pronounced by Benjamin Lane, the coroner for Co. Londonderry. An inquest into Samuel’s death was held February 4th, 1907. The death was registered February 12th, 1907 by James McFeehan (assistant registrar).
