James Magee (1843-1905)

James Magee is my Great-great-grandfather. He was married to Margaret McKee. James and Margaret lived and worked in Lisburn, County Antrim. His occupation in the 1901 census and on his death certificate was listed as a bleacher. The 1901 census records 5 children ranging from 13 to 33 living at home. Agnes Stewart Magee, their third daughter, is my Great-grandmother. James died December 2, 1905 at his home on Seymour Street in Lisburn.

Samuel Elder (1832-1907)

On February 4th, 1907, Samuel Elder’s body was found in the River Roe at “Natty’s Hole” near Ballyclose, Limavady. His death record lists Samuel as a widower and labourer of 75 years. Cause of death was drowning pronounced by Benjamin Lane, the coroner for Co. Londonderry. An inquest into Samuel’s death was held February 4th, 1907. The death was registered February 12th, 1907 by James McFeehan (assistant registrar).

Segorry, Lily McGilligan’s birthplace

Segorry, Aghadowey is where my grandmother, Lily McGilligan was born on 30 Jan 1919. The home is located on the left about two thirds down the Ardreagh Road driving towards St. Guaire’s Parish Church from the Drumcroon Road (A29).

The photograph of the shop front of Robert Elder’s grocery business at 21 Duke Street on the Waterside was taken in 1906. Items for sale included hardware, artificial manures and agricultural seeds. The owner Robert Elder is pictured outside with his employees.

Robert Elder and Helen Grainger Emberson are the parents of Robert Craig Elder who is buried at Altnagelvin Cemetery.
