According to the 1911 Census, Robert Elder (Born about 1824) and his two sons lived in Derryvane, Muff, County Donegal, Ireland. The sons are named Samuel (Born about 1857) and Robert (Born about 1861). Both are recorded as single with the occupation of agricultural labourer. Robert Elder senior’s occupation is recorded as shoemaker which might be a link to one of my ancestors who started a shoemaker business in Limavady, County Londonderry. Their religion is recorded as Presbyterian. Samuel Elder was unable to read or write.

Your David Elder,Robert Elder,Samuel Elder and William Elder all of BALLYDEROWEN(Ballydiravan incorrect spelling)Inishowen, County Donegal were related by marriage to my G.Grandfather,James Ramsey also of Ballyderowen townland. Derryvane is only about 3 miles from Ballyderowen on the Burnfoot to Muff road. The Elders are also related to the Brown family of Lenamore in Derryvane.
Gordon Elder still farms at Ballyderowen and is a ruling elder at Fahan Presbyterian Church.
