Hi I am researching family tree and found your site.
Would you know anything more about Mary Barr. I am trying to establish if there is a connection to an Archibald Barr who may have married a Nancy ?
Apparently he may have been buried at Killykergan Aghadowey around 1884.
Possibly had a son called John who married a Catherine Brittain?

Thank you
Gary

My wife’s great grandfather was Archibald Barr of Coleraine. He had a son called John (born circa 1842) who married Catherine Bratton of Londonderry (born circa 1847). They married on September 28th 1869 in the Second Glendermott Presbyterian Church in Lodonderry. There is a suggestion that Archibald married a “Nancy”. In the 1901 Census Nancy Barr is listed as living at 1 Killykergan, Aghadowey, aged 80 and a widow. I think John Barr had siblings-Eliza, Willie, Archie and Mary Barr who may have married James Elder of Aghadowey on May 16th 1862.
Any further information would be appreciated.

Yes, Archibald Barr was my wife’s great grandfather and John Barr her grandfather who married Catherine Bratton (not Brittain).

Hi Gary,
I also descend from this Archibald Barr of Killykergan. Archibald and Nancy Wilson Barr had a son William Barr who married Hannah McGugan. William and Hannah are my 2nd great grandparents.
Kind regards,
John

For John Reed:
Your great grandfather William Barr had many siblings one of whom was John Barr (born circa 1842) who married Catherine Bratton (born circa 1847) on September 28th 1869. One of John’s sons was Herbert Barr who was my wife’s father. We could exchange info if you wish.

John, I think William and Hannah had 9 children. Could you give me details surrounding your grandparents and parents please?
