Glendermott Presbyterian Church

glendermott_presbyterian.jpg

Glendermott Presbyterian Church near Drumahoe, Co. Londonderry. According to exterior wall plaques, the Presbyterian congregation was established back in 1654 and the church building was complete in 1696. The church extension was completed in 1938 by building contractor S. Stewart and architect W. I. Lynch.

The Elder family from Killymallaght is linked to the Glendermott Presbyterian Church.

Dear Ray,
I am looking for my family in Glendermott. Andrew Alexander was born there between 1799 & 1807. We have this from his enlistment papers as he joined the Queens Own 50th Regiment and his records from the Orange Lodge here in Sydney. His death certificate (he died in Sydney Australia 1893) is vague as to his parents however it states Jacob Alexander and Frances ? A Jacob was living in house number 33 Killmallaght with 1 female in the 1831 Census. How do I go about finding where this Jacob was buried and anything else about this family? Is he buried in Glendermott Church yard? I believe he was a lay preacher and could also have been an elder in the Church.
Many thanks
